Course syllabus

Requirements for passing the course

  • 1st element: mid-term test
The test will take place in the middle of the semester. It will consist of 3 complex problems (60 minutes) worth a maximum of 30 points. The mid-term test must be passed with a positive result (at least 15 points). It will be organized only once. Please consult the course syllabus above for detailed regulations.
  • 2nd element: end-term test
The test will take place towards the end of the semester. It will consist of 4 complex problems (90 minutes) worth a maximum of 40 points. The end-term test must be passed with a positive result (at least 20 points). It will be organized only once. Please consult the course syllabus above for detailed regulations.
  • 3rd element: additional points
- Homework: There will be 3 homework assignments given during the semester. Each of them will be worth a maximum of 6 points. You will have 2 weeks to solve each of them. In order to count, the assignment must be handed in in time (in class or by e-mail).
- Class participation: For each problem solved individually at the board you can receive a maximum of 6 points (depending on the correctness of your solution).
- In total you can receive a maximum of 30 additional points during the semester.
  • Re-take exam period (March)
In the retake exam period there will be only one test organized and it will cover the entire material. On this test you can obtain a maximum of 70 points. Your final grade is determined on the basis of the sum of the exam score and additional points gathered during the regular semester of class.

Please note that:

  • Absence at the mid-term or end-term test (on the required date) results in 0 points.
  • All participants are allowed to take the retake test, regardless of the result from the first approach.
- For persons who did not pass the first approach, absence on the retake test results in failing the test.
- For persons who obtained a positive result from the first approach, approaching the retake test cancels the result obtained from the first approach.
  • All tests are organized according to the rules of "Zero tolerance for cheating".
  • There are no other possibilities (neither new dates nor rules) for passing the course.
  • Grades are given according to the following scale:
